The housing market has been crazy in the past couple of years, and since forever ago, we keep hearing that the housing market is going to crash. So you are looking to rationalize buying a home.
And let me say this. The cost of living will always be there; unless you invest in your own home, you will never see a cash return on your rental.
But I get it; you have heard stories of people getting into beading wars. You are seeing mortgage interest rates more than double in just 1 year.
So, you are scared, and you want someone to tell you if it is ok to buy a home or not.
The truth is this, the housing market goes through cycles, and sometimes there is high demand and others low demand for homes. No one knows when exactly the market will bottom out. People can make predictions but no one can tell you for sure the day when the housing market conditions will be most favorable for you as the buyer.
Home Prices are higher than 4 years ago, true. But let me ask you, were you ready to buy a home then? When prices were more "affordable."
In my opinion, there is no better time to own a home than today, if you can afford it of course.
Make a little sacrifice. Take the plunge. You will have so many benefits from owning a home. These benefits outweigh negative predictions about the housing market conditions.
So should you buy a home this year?
This doesn't depend on what the market does,
Not on what your realtor says, no. It depends on you.
You are the key; you have to decide whether to buy or not to buy.
